On Wisconsin!
A Wisconsinite carried the American flag into the Opening Ceremony at the Winter Olympic Games on February 10, 2006 in Torino Italy. The honor went to speed-skater Chris Witty, who was born and raised in West Allis, Wisconsin, which is by Milwaukee. The 30-year-old Witty is one of 15 Wisconsin athletes who competed in the Torino Olympics. Eight were speed-skaters and the rest competed in hockey, curling, cross-country skiing, and ski-jumping.
